About

Heccubus is a person whose obsession with music started early, and from unlikely sources. He never had the cool older brother that he stole tapes from (his older sisters listened to what he describes as “Nonsensical, commercialist fucking asshole trash”), and he didn’t watch a lot of MuchMusic (MTV for Canada). His mom got him interested in The Beatles, Conway Twitty, The Carpenters, and Johnny Cash (though that one was accidental). His father got him interested in Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and Powder Blues. For a short while, he had an almost-step-brother that got him into Nirvana, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, and a multitude of other 90s “alternative rock” staples. Mostly, though, he was bred into the cynical, critical douche that he is now as a result of his older second cousin, who introduced him to the world of NoMeansNo, DOA, Dead Kennedys, Poison Idea, Minor Threat, Operation Ivy, and numerous other underground punk bands at the tender age of 10 years old. Along the way he discovered metal, hip hop, electronic music, and eventually stumbled upon underground noise and avant-garde acts. This completely insane, decade-and-a-half-long journey of musical discovery has bred a human being whose thirst for aural candy can only be described as “deeply concerning” or “like if Dracula was way into music, and fed on MP3s”.

Now well into his 20s, there’s no real way of saying for sure whether or not this bloodthirsty lust for music can ever be quenched, but for the time being, Revolutions Per Minute serves as an outlet to express this completely insane obsession without having to inflict any sort of direct harm upon much of anyone. Assuming, of course, that he doesn’t fly off into a rage and wander into the streets to bludgeon people with his laptop.
